From the President, September 2000
From the President's Angle

Are you ready for a great year? Hold on to your hats, because this will be a year of integrating, educating, and alerting the Minnesota construction community of the strength and experience that the members of the Minneapolis–St. Paul Chapter of CSI have to offer this industry. And, through the continued dedication and talented efforts of your Board and Committee chairs, all this will be possible.

As your President this year, I have goals to help our chapter continue being a leader in this construction market. These goals are to:

  • Become well known as the “Construction Educator” in the Twin Cities area, and beyond those boundaries

  • Increase exposure of the Minneapolis – St. Paul Chapter and it’s activities outside of our membership

  • Create an awareness program of the chapter’s internal structures and those task responsibilities

The Board has already started working towards these goals and some are already completed. How have they done this? Well, let’s start with the new Chapter “Desktop Reference” directory that all members have now received. Take a look inside. As a member, this tool will help you identify who’s who in our CSI Chapter leadership, and pinpoint their responsibilities. Now, turn to the back of the directory and you’ll see the full listing our all our chapter programs for this year, the dates and location of each event, and each individual program’s captain to call for more information. THIS IS A GREAT TOOL … not only for keeping our members aware of who’s who and which person to call for specific membership needs, but also to use as a tool to help each of us introduce new or prospective members to our leadership and our activities for the year.

What else have we been up to? We are working towards more interaction with other construction organizations in the area. As we’ve discovered in business, strength is built on collaboration and relationships. The Minneapolis – St. Paul Chapter is busy organizing more joint meetings, extending our arms to invite non-members to our monthly meetings to show them that we are well known as the “construction educator” in the Twin Cities. Likewise, I ask each of you to welcome, greet, and acquaint yourselves with visitors to our meetings. Be sure to show them our warm CSI hospitality and camaraderie.

This isn’t a new CSI. It’s just a revival of our great CSI spirit and our desire to be the construction leader, bringing all the members of the team to the table to share and learn together. I encourage you all to be good CSI members by doing this one thing …. Participating in your CSI Chapter to improve the construction process. To be successful, we need you!

Please, let me hear from you. My door and email box are open and ready to listen to you and your ideas to improve this process. Let’s make 2000-2001 a great year to be part of CSI.
