Take a Dive!

On your mark, get set - jump in!!!

If there were any doubts that this year’s programs would be of the highest caliber, the meeting at Walker Art Center launched the Chapter out of the starting gate on a record pace. This program not only drew the attention across many disciplines of the construction industry, but attracted the attention of the many outside of the construction industry. What better way to promote the high ideals of CSI in educating the construction industry, then by helping to enlighten the public along with ourselves of the behind the scene struggles that are battled to attain successful projects. Congratulations to Jim Schnack for devoting many long hours over the past few months to make this program a success. The Program Committee will continue this success with an exciting list of programs scheduled for our upcoming meetings.

By the time you read this, the Education Committee will be well underway with the weekly Fall classes for the Manual of Practice and General Conditions. Their plans also include advanced education classes for specifications, product representation, and contract administration. The Membership Committee is constantly working to provide information to potential new members, making our Chapter stronger with new member experiences and talents. You can always tell if the Communications Committee is busy just by reaching for your monthly issue of specifics. If your newsletter is in your inbox, this committee is hard at work. Other signs of this committee’s activities are the Chapter’s Desktop Reference and notifications of our events in other media. The Awards Committee and the Certification Committee are currently working behind the scenes preparing for their “lime-light” events which start to occur in late winter and spring of 2003. In addition, special committees are working on the Construction Showcase 2003 in January and the Golf Outing in June.

The brief comments on each of our Chapter committees are to inform you of the important work that each committee completes to produce our spectacular activities, and to encourage you to use the full potential of your CSI membership. Select a committee which you are interested in, contact the committee chair, and attend a meeting. Our committees welcome “window shopping”. The Chapter needs your input to increase the value of CSI membership yourself and your fellow members. So, on your mark, get set, jump-in!!!
